For the past 22 years, Gwendolyn has dedicated her professional life to supporting children with developmental differences, their families, and teams.

In private practice, and in conjunction with esteemed organizations in the community, Gwendolyn’s passion for connection and communication is second to none. Gwendolyn’s career as a music therapist started at Professional Child Development Associates and Hillsides. As a speech pathologist, she has directed Villa Esperanza Services’ Speech & Language Center over the past 11 years, and = provides direct services, training and professional development for a wide variety of schools and agencies across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Orange Counties.

Trainings.

  • AAC Assessment and Options.

    In this training we will explore the AAC Assessment process, addressing the needs of non-speaking students, and high tech options to meet student needs. The presentation includes didactic, interactive, and hands-on components.

  • Getting Started with AAC.

    From low tech to high, the first steps in implementing a new AAC system can be daunting. In this presentation, we will take the mystery out of how and where to get started with aided communication. This presentation covers what to do Monday morning, how to move beyond requesting, and goal writing.

  • iPad Apps for Communication.

    With so many communication apps to choose from, this training will demonstrate functions available in the most popular apps for comparison purposes. User characteristics and feature matching will be covered.

  • What To Expect in the Assessment Process

    A training for parents. Whether its an initial evaluation, transition from Early Start to School District, or a re-assessment for eligibility; the assessment process can be stressful - but it doesn’t need to be. In this training, the components, scoring and recommendations of a speech and language assessment will be broken down and explained.

  • Music for Learning and Development

    A training for early childhood educators and elementary special educators. Music is a powerful motivator and can be an invaluable tool in early education settings. Learn how melody, rhythm and harmony support learning and development of essential cognitive, motor, and attentional skills.

  • Sharing Books - Supporting Language & Literacy

    In this training we will cover the stages of reading development, the language of learning, story grammar, and more. Appropriate for parents, Early Head Start instructors, Head Start teachers, education specialists, special educators, and related professionals.
